I had the privilege of being selected to head the Gibson Acoustic Guitar Factory after their acquisition of Flatiron Mandolin the year before.
The CEO of Gibson purchased Flatiron in 1987 and we began to move into the new factory in 1989 with a dozen mandolin builders.
I was quite excited by the opportunity and it was there I was able to build the factory in Bozman, MT because I was not willing to move to Nashville!
This began the start of a 27-year relationship with Gibson helping establish the acoustic department there like never before.
